Synopsis: The nature of projects, their management, and their costs and benefits. Applications of systems analysis and design to the process of change. Fundamentals of change management practices. Other issues include the tools of project management (Pert charts, critical path analysis, computation of the float, contingency factors, Gantt charts, and task monitoring); software management; cost benefit analysis including rate of return and risk analysis; implementation of projects; the nature, sociology and psychology of change; change management and radical business process re-engineering.
Assessment: Assignment 1 (case study - 2000 words): 20% + Assignment 2 (essay - 2500 words) 30% + Examination (3 hours): 50%
Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week
