The discipline

The Faculty of Information Technology offers a major sequence in computing which can be included as a science sequence for the Bachelor of Science course. The sequence focuses on the development of computer-based applications, exploring computer technology, programming environments and system development, with a range of more specialised options at third level.

Sequence requirements

Minor sequence in computing (30 points):

Major sequence in computing (54 points):

Students seeking to include FIT2009 and/or FIT3005 in their major sequence must also include the unit FIT1007, thereby increasing the total points for the major to 54.

Recommendations

Level one

The unit MAT1077, which is described in the ‘Mathematical sciences’ entry in this section of the handbook, provides useful mathematical background to support these studies.
