The combined program is a recognition by the faculties of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and Law that the burgeoning area of medical law requires a pool of graduates with an academic grounding in both professions. Course structureCourse requirementsThe medicine component requires that students complete 240 points of study, comprising 48 points of study in each year, except third and seventh year (which is comprised entirely of law units). The law component requires that students complete 144 points of study, including 16 compulsory units and a further 60 points of elective law units. The structure as outlined below would allow a student to compete the double-degree program within 6.5 years. Students who wish to complete the degree in six years may do so by taking law units over summer semesters after they have completed third year. However, students who choose this option should note that summer-semester units will be taught on a full-fee basis. First year -- 48 pointsSecond year -- 63 points
