Course description

This course, offered by the School of Rural Health, aims to prepare rural health care practitioners for positions of leadership and research, clinical practice, teaching and management, and enhance career options of rural health care practitioners from various disciplines.

Entry requirements

Candidates are selected on the basis of academic and professional merit. Special consideration is given to candidates who hold current registration in a relevant health discipline and who are working in rural areas or are preparing for a career in rural practice. Candidates must have a minimum of a pass bachelors degree or a qualification deemed equivalent and a minimum period of one year’s relevant clinical experience. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Rural Health may articulate into the masters program.

Course structure

The course consists of four 6-point core units and a further 48 points of elective units.

  • CRH1021 Multidisciplinary rural health project
  • CRH1032 Applied research for rural health practitioners

  • CRH1047 Health, ecology and environmental change
  • MRP4010 Contemporary professional practice
  • NUR9208 Therapeutic medication management

Assessment

Assessment includes written assignments and papers, projects, student journals, literature review, online discussion groups and formal assessment.
