Units indexed by faculty Graduate Diploma in Family MedicineCourse code: 1759 + Course abbreviation: GradDipFamMed + Total credit points required: 48 + 4 semesters part-time Study mode and course locationOff-campus (Clayton) Course descriptionThis course, offered by the Department of General Practice, has been specifically designed for general practitioners who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in areas relevant to general practice and to meet their own personal and professional needs as well as the needs of their patients and the community in which they practice. Opportunities may exist to upgrade to the masters degree program. Entry requirementsApplicants must be currently registered by the medical board in their respective state, or have a qualification which is eligible to be registered in a state of the Commonwealth. A minimum of two years of work experience is essential, and preference will be given to applicants currently employed and who have been active in general practice for a minimum of two years. Special consideration may be given to suitably qualified overseas graduates residing in their own country. AssessmentAssessment is by coursework participation, assignments with occasional special projects and some weekend workshops, plus formal examinations from time to time.
