Course description

This course, offered by the School of Nursing and Midwifery, is suitable for registered nurses (Division 1) working, or intending to work, in general practice contexts. It aims to provide participants with assessment and management skills to enable them to plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate health care in conjunction with general practitioners.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally have a degree of nursing or equivalent and 12 months of post registration clinical experience. It is also required that they have access to a general practice environment.

Course structure

This course consists of three units.

Semester one

  • NUR5703 Advanced pathophysiology and health assessment

Semester two

  • DFM1001 Introduction to general practice
  • NUR4927 Clinical care coordination in general practice

Assessment

Assessment includes written assignments, clinical examinations, case studies and online quizzes.
