Course description

This course, offered by the School of Nursing and Midwifery, aims to prepare specialist clinical nurses to provide comprehensive care for children, and their families, within a variety of health care environments. The course is taught in conjunction with industry partners. Students are required to be working in a clinical area where they predominantly care for children and their families.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally have a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (eg Division 1 or be eligible for registration); and at least one year of professional clinical experience. Special entry may be available.

Course structure

Students are required to undertake study modules offered by industry partners and the following core unit.

  • NUR6405 Explorations in child and family nursing

Assessment

Assessment includes case study reports, tests, online tutorial discussion groups, clinical skills exams, clinical performance, advanced life support assessment, learning packages and assignments.
