Course description

This double-degree course aims to provide a broad-based foundation in business and management while providing existing and aspiring managers with the opportunity of developing specialist knowledge and expertise in business law.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to have completed:

  • a degree from a recognised tertiary institution with an average grade of credit or above, and
  • two years of relevant full-time post-degree managerial or professional work experience (preferably four years) of sufficient level and complexity as determined by the course director to enable full participation in the course.

Advanced standing

Candidates should consult the MBA Programs office regarding the advanced standing criteria for the MBA.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete 10 core units (60 points):

(b) Students must complete 10 units (60 points) from the Master of Business Law units as follows:

  • Up to two 9000-level units from the MBusLaw program
  • Up to four 4000-level units from the MBusLaw program
  • At least four 5000-level units from the MBusLaw program

Within this framework, MBusLaw students can take up to two units from any department in the Faculty of Business and Economics or from other faculties with approval of the course director (MBusLaw), or up to four units approved for the Master of Commercial Law offered by the Faculty of Law provided that the MBusLaw course director is satisfied that the unit does not substantially duplicate a unit previously completed by the candidate.
