Course description

This course provides management and organisation-related topics for graduates who are ready to focus on developing their leadership skills and abilities. It examines major theories and concepts concerning the behaviour and performance of individuals and groups in organisations. However, modern managers also need to be able to deal with an increasingly complex set of interrelated factors generated, not only from within their organisations, but from the external competitive and regulatory environment. This course provides students with the theory, tools and techniques to understand dynamic nature of business processes and their impact on organisational performance.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to have completed:

  • a bachelors degree from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification as determined by faculty board, and
  • a minimum of two years of relevant employment experience.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete two core units (12 points):

  • MGX9600 Managing people and organisations
  • MGX9970 Organisational and business dynamics

(b) Students must complete two elective units (12 points) from 9000-level units taught by the Department of Management.

Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Management may apply for the Graduate Diploma in Management or the Master of Management and would be eligible for advanced standing for four units.
