Course description

This course provides the specialised skills and expertise required in the banking and finance industry. It is designed to cater for the needs of those people in the industry who require specialist skills in the banking and finance industry including knowledge of Australian capital markets, business law, lending, treasury operations, portfolio management, international banking and finance and planning and strategy.

Students who successfully complete the Executive Certificate in Banking and Finance with an average grade of credit or above may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance.

Course structure

Students must complete four units (24 points) as follows:

  1. Four finance units from:

    • AFF9260 Australian capital markets
    • AFF9270 Treasury management for financial institutions
    • AFF9350 Portfolio management and theory
    • AFX9641 Business finance*, or
    • AFF9250 Financial management theory

    or

  2. Four 9000-level units related to a finance discipline, offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance.

* Students who wish to study AFX9641 must have an accounting background.
