Course description

This double-degree course aims to provide a broad-based foundation in business and management while providing existing and aspiring managers with the opportunity of developing specialist knowledge and expertise in information management and systems, with an emphasis on information systems development and business.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to have completed:

  • a degree from a recognised tertiary institution with an average grade of credit or above, and
  • two years of relevant full-time post-degree managerial or professional work experience (preferably four years) of sufficient level and complexity as determined by the course director to enable full participation in the course.

Advanced standing

Candidates should consult the MBA Programs office regarding the advanced standing criteria for the MBA.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete 10 core units (60 points):

(b) Students must complete 10 units (60 points) from the Master of Information Management and Systems as follows:

(i) One core unit (6 points):

  • IMS5022 Contemporary issues in information management and systems

(ii) Nine units (54 points) selected from the Master of Information Management and Systems course (subject to meeting prerequisites). Students may undertake two of the nine units from other unit offerings within the Faculty of Information Technology.
