It is designed for people who are involved in, or aspire to become involved in, work with minority endangered language groups. Training is provided in the specialist skills needed to document and maintain endangered languages both in homeland and in diaspora or immigrant community settings. Entry requirementsA bachelors degree with at least a credit average in the final year; or a bachelors pass degree with demonstrable community and/or professional experience at senior level in a relevant area (these applicants will need to supply a full CV, a 1000-word statement, and the names of two professional referees). Note that prior study of linguistics is not required as a prerequisite. Course structureThe course consists of three units at fourth-year level, comprising 24 points taken in one semester. Students take the group 1 core unit (12 points) and one unit selected from each of groups 2 and 3 (6 points each). An elective selected from group 4 or two further units from groups 2 and 3 may be taken by students who are exempted from ALM4110. Group 1 core unit (12 points)
