Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Operating systems concepts for single-user and multi-user environments. Multi-tasking systems concepts. Process management, memory management, security and file systems. Systems to be covered may include UNIX and Windows 2000. Network related issues and the world wide web. UNIX shell scripting using the Bourne shell as a powerful and fully featured programming language.
Assessment: Examination: 60% + Practical work and assignments: 40%
