Caulfield Second semester 2005 (Evening)
Synopsis: This unit introduces students to a range of survey research, including mail questionaires, face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews and focus group interviews. Attention will be directed toward assessing the strengths and weaknesses of these approaches. The unit had been designed to increase students' understanding of the underlying issues and debates concerning each survey technique including the writing of questions and various interviewer or respondent biases.
Assessment: Two practical assignments (2000 words each): 40% + Research report (5000 words): 60%
Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week
