Synopsis: This unit will introduce the student to a variety of texts, both fictional and non-fictional, and audio-visual recordings which illustrate the intersection of processes of cultural production and consumption and how they intersect with structures of power in Latin American societies. The unit will have a historical as well as a social and cultural focus.
Assessment: Two essays (2500 words each): 60% + Final test (3000 words): 30% + Participation: 10%
Contact Hours: 3 hours (1 x 3 hour seminar) per week
