Synopsis: This unit provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in designing and doing empirical sociological research by engaging in a group research project. A variety of techniques and methodologies will be explored and used in studying a research topic selected by the students.
Assessment: Minor report (2000 words ): 50% + Participation in conducting and writing up a group research project (2500 words): 50%
Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week
Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in Sociology or permission
