Synopsis: An examination of contemporary family policies in western societies. The focus will be on current debates regarding: abortion, domestic violence, child custody after divorce, childcare services and parental leave. Comparisons will be made between countries, and between feminism and the neo-conservative New Right Pro-Family movement.
Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 40% + Seminar paper (2500 words): 60%
Contact Hours: 2 hours per week
Prerequisites: Minor in Sociology or equivalent
