Synopsis: The unit begins with an analysis of the key 'Australian' values and institutions at the beginning of the twentieth century. The unit examines the impact of these changes on income distribution, the 'welfare state', the mass media and other key Australian institutions, as well as the outcome for Australian nationalism.
