Synopsis: The unit will cover the following topics: modern family structure and kinship relations, family processes, changing gender roles within the family, and family disruption.

Assessment: <On-campus students> Seminar presentation and written paper: 55% + Examination (2 hours): 45% <Off-campus students> Research essay (2500 words): 55% + Examination (2 hours): 45%

Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week

Prerequisites: SCY1801 and SCY1802 or equivalents
