Synopsis: Clinical participation in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations of the head and neck, spine, thoracic and abdominal regions of patients recognising normal anatomy and common pathophysiological appearances. Further advanced clinical experience in computed tomography.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. implement departmental safety protocols; 2. participate and assist in magnetic resonance examinations of the central nervous system, thoracic and abdominal regions and extremities on patients under strict supervision; 3. implement basic magnetic resonance imaging methods under close supervision; 4. apply basic quality assurance principles to magnetic resonance imaging systems; and 5. identify personal learning goals in respect to the initial development of professional expertise in magnetic resonance imaging.

Assessment: Clinical studies procedural record: CT 15%, MRI 10% + clinical assessments: CT = 2x 15%, MRI = 1 x 15% + Professional development contract: CT 15%, MRI 15%
