Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Characteristics and operation of constitutional democracy in Australia and selected political debates of contemporary import. Topics include political traditions and the growth of government; political culture and citizenship; the hybrid with special reference to the role of the Senate; constitutional reform; governmental reform; contemporary party political debate.
Assessment: Precis exercise (1500 words): 20% + Essay (4500 words): 40% + Examination (3 hours): 40%
