Synopsis: This subject provides students with their first experience of a supervised research project on a topic of their own choosing. Students will work up to the writing of the main research paper by a series of shorter assessment tasks, elements of which will be incorporated into the final draft.

Students will work up to the writing of the main research paper by a series of shorter assessment tasks, elements of which will be incorporated into the final draft.

Assessment: Synopses of key papers (3000 words): 5% + Literature Review (4000 words): 10% + First draft of research project (8000-10000 words): 15% + Final draft of research project: 60% + Presentation of thesis to Work-in-Progress Seminar (20-40 mins) : 10% + Students are also required to submit a bibliography before commencing their Synopses of key papers.

Contact Hours: Weekly Work in Progress seminar (2 hours) and fortnightly supervision session.
