Synopsis: This unit is designed to upgrade current MICA Paramedics to the latest Ambulance Service Victoria (ASV) Clinical Practice Guidelines at the level expected of the Graduate Diploma of Emergency Health (MICA Paramedic). This unit will use a negotiated learning contract based on the student's self assessment of learning needs which will supervised by the MUCAPS unit convenor.
Objectives: On completion of this unit the student will be able to: 1. Demonstrate an ability to review his/her own clinical experience and arrange suitable learning experiences to maintain learning needs as a result of the varying clinical experience in the field; 2. Demonstrate the development of clinical, professional and leadership capabilities of a clinically competent MICA Paramedic; 3. Demonstrate the ability to critically review MICA Paramedic practice in light of current evidence. 4. Demonstrate the clinical ability to appropriately manage patients with conditions requiring MICA Paramedic skills, using the MICA Paramedic clinical problem solving and clinical decision making model and the latest ASV Clinical Practice Guidelines at the level expected of the Graduate Diploma of Emergency health (MICA Paramedic).
Assessment: Learning Contract Pass/Fail.
