Synopsis: The aim of this unit is to provide students with an understanding of the major legal parameters related to nursing practice and to provide a framework for exploring ethical issues in health care.

Objectives: On completion of this unit, students will be expected to: 1. develop an understanding of the contemporary Australian legal system; 2. demonstrate an understanding of legal principles relevant to the health care system; 3. explore various legal issues relating to nursing care; 4. gain an understanding of selected ethical issues in contemporary health care; and 5. develop resolutions to ethical dilemmas in nursing practice which are consistent with personal and professional standards.

Assessment: Assignments: 100% (50% + 50%)
