Synopsis: Introduction to materials reduction or disposal choices. Basic alloy theory, interactions between metals found in the recycling stream. Structure and properties of polymers, which polymers can be blended and their resulting properties. Glass recycling. Potential end uses of recycled materials. Politics and local issues in recycling. Materials life cycle analysis and failure of market economics.
