Clayton First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: The design task is analysed to provide insight into the steps to be performed and to assist creativity. Bases for design (eg factors of safety, reliability, risk and fitness for purpose) are discussed, with topics including specification and selection of materials and costing for design. Computer-aided drawing, manufacture using professional packages. Computer numerical control and robotics. Flexible manufacturing.
