Advanced research design and thesis proposal ( 6 points, SCA Band 1, 0.125 EFTSL)

Synopsis: The aim of this unit is to facilitate an understanding of research design and methods, especially in the context of organisational psychology. This unit will introduce discuss moderators, direction of causality, spurious variables, common method variance, suppressors, treatment validity, scale construction, questionnaire design, qualitative research, meta analyses, and thesis preparation.

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should: 1. be equipped with the capacity to design research - including questionnaires and interventions that minimise the legitimacy of alternative explanations; 2. be able to evaluate other research comprehensively and uncover limitations in these studies.

Assessment: Research proposal (2,000 words). (100%)
