Synopsis: The aim of this unit is to enhance the ability of students to undertake multivariate statistical procedures, including ANCOVAs, MANOVAs, discriminant function analysis, multiple regression, canonical correlation, and factor analysis. Statistical concepts, such as the benefits of statistical control, power, effect size, outliers, and assumptions, are also addressed.

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should: 1. have the necessary skills and knowledge to analyse the data they collect during their research, placements and employment; 2. have the ability to exhibit a flexible and insightful, rather than mechanism and rigid, approach to statistical analyses.

Assessment: Multiple-choice examination of approximately 50 items. (100%).
