Berwick Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: This component of the course aims to enhance the students' understanding of the multimedia development process, to give them a 'hands-on' understanding of the techniques, tools and products used in multimedia systems, and to give them practical experience in the development of multimedia products, services and systems.The principal focus of this unit will be on the using authoring tools to create user driven, interactive content applied in areas such as games, educational and corporate profiling and those commonly used in on-line and CD ROM production. Management and control of the multimedia development process will also be addressed.
Assessment: Practical Assignments and Project Work: 100%Practical assignment and project work will aim to produce multimedia products or components of multimedia systems which will be done both individually and in groups. Individual components will aim to assess the student's competence in the practical use of multimedia tools and system management tools and techniques (knowledge, understanding and skill objectives), and group components will be used to assess their ability to work collaboratively (knowledge and attitude objectives).The advice and guidance of leading practitioners from industry will be used to refine and apply baseline criteria for assessment.
Contact Hours: 4 hours per week studio, 8 hours per week self-directed study. Note: Enrolment only open to those students enrolled in the Bachelor of Multimedia (2163)
