Synopsis: This subject advances students' knowledge of multimedia design principles with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary practice. The use of digital video, digital audio, dynamic data and animation is explored in the context of interactive media. The view of multimedia design as a discipline is expanded through exploration of its relationship with interface design, information architecture and multimedia authoring.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.approach the problem-solving of interactive digital media with an inquiring, adventurous and open attitude; 2.be able to integrate digital video, digital audio, dynamic data and animation into various different delivery platforms for multimedia design, including the Internet, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, site-specific installation, and other technologies; 3.be able to work in cross disciplinary production groups, such as multimedia design/industrial design, as multimedia design/interior architecture and/or as multimedia design/visual communication; 4.be able to develop multimedia with a high level of interactivity; 5.understand and apply the principles of human-computer interface design; 6.have an awareness of a wide range of multimedia production language and technologies; 7.have an awareness of the role of information design, interface design, programming and content experts in multimedia development.

Assessment: Three major project:80% + Minor projects:20%
