Caulfield Second semester 2005 (Evening)
Synopsis: The objective of the unit is to conduct an in-depth investigation of the theory and practice of knowledge management in relation to the current social, organisational and industrial environments. Students will focus on current key issues in knowledge management and examine topics including the nature and origins of organisational knowledge, organisational learning, organisational memory, organisational capabilities and competences and knowledge work. The unit aims to build students' understanding of the impact of these issues in resolving problems and taking advantage of opportunities relating to the exploration of organisational knowledge assets.
Assessment: Publishable paper: 40% Business report on a case study: 30% Class presentation: 30%
Contact Hours: 3 contact hours per week
Prerequisites: Must have completed Part A of the Master of Information Systems
