Synopsis: The aim of this unit is to enhance the ability of students to undertake multivariate statistical procedures, including ANCOVAs, MANOVAs, discriminant function analysis, multiple regression, canonical correlation, and factor analysis. Statistical concepts, such as the benefits of statistical control, power, effect size, outliers, and assumptions, are also addressed.

Objectives: On completion of this unit students should: 1. Be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to analyse the data collected during research, placements and employment. 2. Have the ability to exhibit a flexible and insightful rather than mechanical and rigid, approach to statistical analysis.

Assessment: 2 in-class statistics exercises (25% each) and a multiple-choice worksheet of approximately 50 questions (50%).

Off-campus attendance requirements: Five-day off-campus workshop
