Synopsis: Communication theory emphasising written and oral communication in relation to organisational, intrapersonal, interpersonal and group communication. Importance of relationships in the work context, language, listening and nonverbal behaviour. Interpersonal contexts include negotiation, interviewing, feedback, coaching and counselling. Group communication - roles, leadership and facilitation, problem-solving, decision making and group creativity.

Assessment: On-campus: Individual persuasive presentation: 10% + Individual essay (2000 words): 20% + Individual essay (3000 words): 30% + Final examination (2 hours): 40%. Off-campus: Individual assignment (1000 words): 10% + Individual assignment (2000 words): 20% + Report (3000 words): 30% + Examination (2 hours): 40%
