Synopsis: This unit introduces students to the language, concepts and theories of services management. Students are required to apply critical thinking and research skills to strategic problem solving in services cases. Frameworks and tools for strategic analysis of services are examined and applied to contemporary Australian cases. The emphasis is on research, analysis and critical thinking skills to evaluate strategy for service organisations. The objective is to develop students' skills in independent strategic thinking.
Assessment: Assignment (2000 words): 20% + Group presentation: 20% + Examination (3 hours): 60%
Contact Hours: 2-hour lectures per week and 1-hour tutorial per week
Prerequisites: Any two second-year management units
