Synopsis: Linear algebra: solution of nxn linear systems, eigenvalue problems, ill-conditioning, iterative methods; Solution of nonlinear equations; bracketing and Newton methods; interpolation and least-squares curve fitting; Fourier series: periodic functions and trigonometric series, Euler formulae, even and odd functions, half range expansions; Partial differential equations: separation of variables for the heat, wave and Laplace equations.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Tests and assignments: 30%
