Synopsis: This is a program of individual research and writing during one semester on a legal topic or project which has been approved by the Dean of Law or his/her delegate after consultation with the proposed supervisor. It is expected that some of those topics or projects will be associated with opportunities for placements or internships in legal services in the private or government sectors, including ones overseas.
Objectives: Students successfully completing this subject should (1) have demonstrated the capacity to undertake independent legal research; (2) have displayed analytical competence; and (3) have further developed skills in the presentation of legal writing.
Assessment: Research paper (7000-9000 words): 100%
Prerequisites: LAW1100 Legal process OR LAW1101 Introduction to legal reasoning and LAW1102 Law in society
