Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Consolidation and extension of KOR4030. Topics include everyday social situations, such as narrating personal experiences, enquiring about or expressing knowledge and opinions, and making arrangements. Students will read simplified texts from newspapers, and write simple texts such as a diary. They will be introduced to expressions in different registers in the spoken and written language and the social and cultural aspects of Korean society necessary to understand them.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. Communicate in everyday social situations. 2. Read highly simplified texts from magazines and newspapers. 3. Write a diary of half a page. 4. Understand expressions in different registers and their social and cultural background.
Assessment: Continuous assessment (oral and written class work, homework, tests): 60% + Examination (4 hours): 40%
Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 2 x 1 hour tutorials) per week
