Synopsis: Through an exposure to a wide variety of literary and non-literary texts which focus on modern Israeli writers and Jewish cultural trends, comprehensive critical sources, international scholars, individualised guidance and regular supervision, students will be able to achieve a scholarly approach to the unit marked by the sharpening of literary and analytical skills necessary in successful research.

Assessment: 2 essays (8000 words total): 90% + Tutorial paper (oral and written, 1000 words): 10%

Contact Hours: 3 hours (1 x 3 hour seminar) per week

Prerequisites: JWC3010 and JWC3020 or equivalent
