Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: This unit examines economic, political, social and cultural aspects of the Australia-Japan relationship in historical context, treating a variety of topics such as education, tourism and intercultural communication.
Assessment: Written (2000 words): 40% + Examination (1.5 hours): 30% + Tutorial presentation (1000 words): 30% + For the essay, third-year students will be expected to generate their own topic and find a substantial body of source material outside their course references.
Contact Hours: 2 hours (1 x 1 hour lecture and 1 x 1 hour tutorial) per week
Prerequisites: First-year Japanese studies, Japanese language or History sequence or permission.
