Synopsis: This unit constitutes the first stage of progressive training in consecutive interpreting with an emphasis on interpretation from Japanese to English and vice versa. The unit is interrelated to JIT4622 Interpreting B and consequently both units share the overall objective which is to train students to be able to perform at a professional level in a variety of English-Japanese interpreting situations.

Assessment: Assignments: 30% + Theory test (one hour): 10% + Mid-semester test (10 minutes): 20% + End-of-semester test (30 minutes): 40%
