Language Study Abroad Program 3/1 ( 6 points, SCA Band 1, 0.125 EFTSL)

Synopsis: Approved study equivalent to a 6-point unit (Arts, Monash) at an Italian university or an intensive language program at an Italian teaching institution, or at the Monash University Centre in Prato. Placement arrangements will be made through the Program, which has links with the universities of Florence, Bologna, Perugia and Siena and will offer study units at Prato.

Objectives: Upon completion of this unit students should have: 1. Successfully undertaken a program of study offered by a host institution in Italy equivalent to a 6-point level language and culture unit at Monash University. 2. Achieved a good level of competency in the designated tasks. 3. Gained first-hand understanding of Italian culture in Italy. 4. Improved and consolidated Italian language skills in Italy. 5. Taken advantage of access to Italian library holdings, and the Italian-speaking academic environment to complement their language and/or culture programs.

Assessment: Students are required to fulfill attendance and assessment requirements as specified by the host institution for study units equivalent to a Monash University 6-point unit. Students enrolled at the Universit per Stranieri di Perugia will be required to bring back all work for assessment, write a 1000 word essay and do a 30 min oral exam.

Prerequisites: ITA2040, ITA2080, ITA2100, or equivalent knowledge of Italian
