Synopsis: Introduction to financial planning and control: structure and content of financial statements: accounting and costing terminology: Cost Volume Profit analysis: budgeting, product costing, cost control: time value of money: discounted cash flow, payback and accounting rate of return methods for project evaluation: cost of capital, depreciation and taxation issues: working capital management: financial and non-financial indicators to monitor organisational performance and productivity improvement: application to projects incorporating methods engineering and facilities design improvements.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignments: 30%
