Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Properties of fluids and their measurement; flow of fluids; dimensional analysis; fluid machinery; basic concepts of thermodynamics; energy and the first law of thermodynamics; entropy and the second law of thermodynamics; mixture of gases and air-water vapour mixtures. Heat transfer: conduction; covection, radiation; heat transfer processes in the human body, energy in buildings. Energy conversion: fuels and combustion, steam and gas cycles, refrigeration, air-conditioning; energy efficiency and energy economics.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Laboratory work and assignments: 30%.

Prerequisites: ENG1802 or ENG1902
