Synopsis: This unit covers the major issues facing business and IT managers in the effective implementation of Electronic Commerce in contemporary organisations. It examines the evolving nature of e-commerce, its impacts on organisations, and how managers can effectively harness the potential of e-commerce investments to achieve organizational goals. The unit also involves study of the main theoretical and practical issues of e-commerce, e-commerce policies and management, and the particular problems of implementing e-commerce systems.

Assessment: Assignments: 50% + Formal Supervised Assessment: 50%

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisites: 24 credit points of IMS 9000-level units, or equivalent; or 24 credit points of graduate level units in the Master of Information Management and Systems, Master of Information Management and Systems (Professional), Master of Information Technology, the Master of Business Systems, or equivalent; or an approved undergraduate degree in information systems (IS) or information management (IM) or equivalent.
