Synopsis: Conceptual design of integrated engineering software. Development of event driven user interfaces for effective and efficient data/selection control. Theory and use of a modern object oriented database architecture. Techniques for filtering, sorting and locating data. ODBC connectivity and SQL querying. Techniques for processing and inputting realworld engineering data in engineering software utilising engineering algorithms drawn from standards and practice. Design of engineering reporting/decision systems with emphasis on graphics/animation/tabulation/charting outputs for decision support.

Assessment: Examination (Computer Managed Learning): 25% + Laboratory-based assignments: 25% + Individual student project: 50%

Contact Hours: 26 lecture hours, 26 laboratory hours (on-campus)

Prerequisites: Substantial completion of second level of the Mechatronics course, including GSE2701
