Synopsis: This unit places Australia in its global regional context, and investigates the regional diversity of the nation, using a range of different techniques to identify economic, social and physical regions across the country. After defining the regions the subject identifies key influences upon the rate and direction of change in a number of selected case study regions. Here a major emphasis is on the ways that regional problems can be addressed by policy makers.

Assessment: Literature review (1500 words): 25% + Regional report (2000 words): 50% + Examination (1 hours): 25%

Contact Hours: 3 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 1 tutorial) per week

Prerequisites: A second-year sequence in Geography or permission
