Synopsis: The unit will focus on global environmental issues and develop an understanding for the physical, biological and social issues driving global environmental policy and change and how this is inter-related with economic and political processes. The role of tools and mechanisms for managing global environmental change, such as Clean Development Mechanisms under the Kyoto Protocol, will be used to explore the possibilities and challenges facing environmentalists, scientists, politicians and the general public This subject will critically assess cross-scale and cross disciplinary components of environmental management through the use of debates, excursions and case studies
