Synopsis: This module explore the nature, representation and analysis of multimedia signals and systems ranging from real world audio, speech and music through to the processing of images and video sequences. Strong practical problem solving elements will be integrated in the module to complement the theoretical underpinning necessary for the multimedia technology final year subjects. The module is arranged so that students upon successful completion of this subject will have acquired a broad knowledge of the characteristics of multimedia signals and systems, how they can be integrated, processed and manipulated within a multimedia technology perspective.
