Clayton Second semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Students will "workshop" translations of a variety of texts and present their work both individually and collectively; class presentations and discussions will explore issues of comparative stylistics, intercultural communication and the history and methodology of translation.
Objectives: On completion of this subject students will have developed skills in translating from French into English and gained a basic knowledge of theoretical issues related to translation.
Assessment: Two tests (200 words each): 15% + Translation project (1500-2000 words): 25% + Reading report (1500 words): 25% + Group translation presented in class (300 words): 15% + Translation workshop: 20%
