Synopsis: This unit allows students to undertake the equivalent of 6 points of third year in the form of independent reading or external courses. It recognises that, in certain situations, such external courses or independent work are beneficial to a broader understanding of the Earth Sciences

Assessment: Combination of written exam(s), assessed practical(s), report(s), and/or oral presentation(s). The details of assessment will be determined and agreed between third year co-ordinator and student(s) in writing at the beginning of the project
